The Greenfield Parks & Recreation Department has collaborated with the Greenfield and Whitnall School Districts to create summer programs that align with the summer school schedules of both districts. The Summer Playground initiative offers group activities for children in a supervised environment at local schools and parks.

According to the department's announcement, "Tuesday, February 11th: Summer Playground Information (Newspaper) online on this page. Copies available at City Hall and the Public Library." Additionally, during the week of February 17th, "Summer Playground Newspaper distributed to Greenfield School District Elementary School students to bring home."

Resident registration for the program opens on Monday, February 24th at 8:00 AM. A child qualifies as a resident if they live in Greenfield or attend either the Greenfield or Whitnall School Districts. For non-residents, registration begins on Monday, March 10th at 8:00 AM. The statement notes that "Non-resident forms received prior to 3/10/25 will be processed on 3/12/25."

Each child must be registered using a separate Summer Playground registration form each summer. Registrations are handled on a first-come, first-served basis without preference for previous attendees.
