Pervious pavements offer multiple benefits during winter, including absorbing stormwater run-off and delaying frost layer formation. This reduces the need for salt in de-icing processes. Additionally, these roads are resistant to pothole formation, minimizing the requirement for spring repairs.

Green roofs contribute by decreasing run-off through stormwater infiltration and evaporation. They can potentially double roof lifespans and provide extra insulation, thus lowering energy costs in cold weather.

Stormwater trees, native species planted to absorb excess stormwater, also play a role in reducing run-off. Furthermore, they can help lower energy costs by providing shade during summer and blocking wind in winter.
