The Village of Greendale has introduced a new logo, brand promise, and a brand standards guide, aiming to better define the village and highlight its historical significance. This effort targets increasing awareness among visitors, businesses, and residents.
The branding redevelopment was spearheaded by McDaniels Marketing, a firm specializing in place marketing. They collaborated with local stakeholders to gather insights into the village, focusing on its perceived strengths and weaknesses, leading to the creation of new branding assets.
The updated Village of Greendale logo includes stacked and horizontal variations, a social icon adaptation, and a badge version. The primary logo incorporates the tagline "The Garden Community," with variations featuring “Wisconsin” spelled out and a version marking the village's establishment in 1938. Several logos have been developed for different departments, such as Public Works, Police Department, and others, available in multiple colors and sizes for diverse applications.
The official seal selected by the Village Board on February 7, 1939, will continue to be used for official documentation.
For the tagline, Greendale has retained "The Garden Community" to reflect its historical roots and distinctive urban-rural blend. This nickname originated from its unique layout, featuring homes with living rooms and large windows directed towards backyard gardens, emphasizing connection to nature and shared community space.
A brand promise statement was also crafted to define the tone and message of future marketing communications. This statement celebrates Greendale's inception as one of three Greenbelt towns developed during the Great Depression to combine urban and rural lifestyles.
Upcoming steps include integrating the new branding into the village website, communications, and various other materials.
