Voters in the School District of Cudahy have approved two significant referendum questions. On November 5th, a $10.4 million operating referendum was passed with 59.6% support, while a $12 million capital referendum received 62.9% approval.
Superintendent Michelle Garven expressed gratitude towards the community for backing the referendums. She stated, “On behalf of the entire staff and School Board, we continue to be inspired by the commitment that the Cudahy residents show for our students and schools.”
The operating referendum will permit the district to exceed state revenue limits by $5.2 million annually over two years. This funding is intended to prevent cuts in course offerings and services and maintain staffing levels within the district.
The capital referendum authorizes borrowing up to $12 million for building renovations, including safety upgrades and infrastructure repairs across schools.
Garven added, “We look forward to working with the community in creating our ten-year plan for the future. We appreciate this financial support in providing one of the building blocks for our continued success.”
