On August 9, 2025, the USA Triathlon will take place in St. Francis, with about 3,000 bicyclists expected to travel through city streets. The event will result in several road closures that may affect residents' ability to enter or exit their homes by car.
According to information from the St. Francis Police Department, northbound 794 will be closed from 5:30 AM to 1:00 PM. E. Howard Ave. and S. Lake Drive will both be closed from 6:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Residents are advised to plan ahead and park vehicles outside the triathlon route if they anticipate needing access during the closure period. Specifically, it is recommended that vehicles be parked west of S. Lake Drive and south of E. Howard Ave., on a side street, so residents can be escorted on foot across the street to reach their cars.
Parking restrictions in affected areas will be waived overnight from August 8 into August 9 for those impacted by the closures.
Those living at Park Shore, The Mariner, The Landing at Park Shore, and 4200 on the Lake along S. Lake Drive will have access to exit north onto S. Lake Drive from their parking lots during the event. However, other homes and apartment complexes with driveways connected directly to any of the closed roads will not be able to leave by motor vehicle until after the race concludes.
The St. Francis Police Department stated: "Any questions can be directed to the St. Francis Police Department at (414) 481-2232."
"Thank you in advance for your cooperation and patience," added the department.
