Wisconsin National Guard joins Fourth of July celebrations statewide

The Wisconsin National Guard is set to participate in various Independence Day events across the state this week. The 132nd Army Band will perform in Waunakee on July 1 and Platteville on July 3, while also marching in parades in West Allis on July 2, and Oconomowoc and Deforest on July 4.

Soldiers from the 1st Battalion, 120th Field Artillery will be part of the celebration in Berlin on July 3. Personnel from the 157th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade are scheduled to march in Superior's parade on July 4.

Additionally, the Army National Guard’s 1st Battalion, 147th Aviation will showcase UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters at events in Waunakee and Delafield on July 4. The Air National Guard’s 115th Fighter Wing plans a two-ship F-35 Lightning II flyover over festivities in Union Grove, Racine, Oconomowoc, Rhinelander, Greenfield, Barnes, Land O Lakes, Manitowish Waters, Minocqua and Waunakee between 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on July 4.

"The Wisconsin National Guard is comprised of more than 9,000 Soldiers and Airmen who regularly deploy worldwide in support of their federal mission," according to Leslie Westmont of the Wisconsin National Guard. They remain prepared to assist with domestic emergencies within Wisconsin and throughout the United States.
