To mark its 175th anniversary, The Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi is offering a special gift to donors in December. Supporters who contribute a monthly recurring gift of $10 or more, or a one-time donation of $120 or more between December 1 and December 31, 2024, will receive an exclusive limited-edition poster and a four-pack of notecards. These items feature original artwork by Sister Jeanne Carrigan, OSF, and Sister Stella DeVenuta, OSF.
The commemorative items celebrate the legacy of The Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi over their 175-year history from 1849 to 2024. They are available on a first-come, first-served basis during December only. The gifts will be distributed in January 2025.
The artwork titled "Love Over Time" by Sister Jeanne Carrigan depicts the evolution of The Sisters' habits from the time of Foundress Sister Aemiliana Dirr to contemporary attire. It uses mixed media including watercolor and oil pastels.
Sister Stella DeVenuta's piece "175 Years of Caring for Others" draws inspiration from the stained-glass Assisi window located at St. Francis Convent and Franciscan Shore. Created as a "deconstructed" image, it signifies transformation as the congregation embraces new missions while acknowledging their historical roots along Lake Michigan's shores.
