Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) has announced modifications to Routes 24 and 76, effective August 25, 2025. These changes aim to enhance service for businesses located on S. 76th Street and in Greendale.
Route 24 will extend southward to a new endpoint at Northway (60th) & Grange, following the current routing of Route 76. Buses will continue servicing Southridge.
"Every Route 24 bus will travel to 60th (Northway) & Grange before 7pm every day," MCTS stated. "After 7pm, buses will alternate between ending at 74th & Holmes or Northway (60th) & Grange."
The frequency of Route 24 buses is set to increase, with arrivals approximately every 20 minutes compared to the current interval of every 30 minutes on Route 76. Evening services are expected to remain similar to current schedules, with operations running from 5:30 am until 11 pm.
"This change will be an improvement compared to today where only every other Route 76 bus goes to Greendale and only does so after the layover at 74th & Holmes," according to MCTS.
Route 76 will now operate only as far south as Southridge and will no longer serve Greendale. It will maintain its high-frequency service.
