How Rogers' continuum of care aids treatment results

Rogers Behavioral Health-West Allis issued the following announcement.

How Rogers' continuum of care aids treatment results

From a multidisciplinary team of experts to our ability to treat co-occurring mental health and addiction disorders, many qualities make eating disorder treatment unique at Rogers Behavioral Health. One attribute that is particularly special about Rogers is the full continuum of care available to patients with inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization (PHP), and intensive outpatient (IOP) treatment.

"We've found over the years that a full continuum of care is really the optimal intervention to help people reach recovery," explains Brad Smith, MD, medical director of Rogers' Oconomowoc campus and Eating Disorder Recovery. "A gradual step-down in the level of intensity of care has been giving us the best results in terms of people maintaining recovery over time."

To ensure that patients can utilize the levels of care that are best for them, Rogers has discharge planners that work to plan the next steps of treatment – whether that's an additional level of care at Rogers or a return to their traditional outpatient provider. A discharge plan is started the day patients admit to a Rogers program to ensure that they are keeping their goals in mind throughout treatment.

"We want to keep our eyes on the goal of what discharge would need to look like, your goals for discharge, and how we can create your treatment plan to meet those goals," says Jennifer Waite-Wollenburg, manager of residential operations at the Eating Disorder Recovery. "We've had folks who have reported lasting and sustained recovery after completing the entire treatment process."
