LET IT SNOW – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED & CITY RETURNS TO ALTERNATE SIDE PARKING
A reminder that the Snow Angels Program still needs volunteers to help shovel out neighbors in need this winter! Sign up now to be a volunteer, so we can match you with a nearby household before the flurries fly. Learn more, and sign up, here: www.westalliswi.gov/snowangels.
Please also note the City of West Allis has returned to alternate odd-even side parking during snow emergencies. Please make note of these regulations so you know how to park when a snow emergency happens! To get notified of declared snow emergencies, opt-in for text or email notifications via the Public Works News Alerts, at www.westalliswi.gov/notifyme.
Snow emergency parking rules trump all other overnight parking regulations during the emergency. By 10 p.m. on the day of a snow emergency, park your vehicle on the even-numbered side of the street (you will know by the address numbers) if it is an even-numbered calendar date, or on the odd-numbered side of the street if it is an odd-numbered calendar date. Continue to park on the side of the street designated by the snow emergency date through to 3 p.m. the following day. Snow emergency parking will expire at 3 p.m. the day following the emergency declaration.
Please note in some areas, including certain streets and parking lots, there will be “TEMPORARY NO PARKING” signs you must follow. These are set into place to ensure the safety and movement of traffic. You also cannot park on designated emergency thoroughfares. The City of West Allis and the Department of Public Works want timely, cleared, safe city streets as much as you do. Having vehicles parked on one designated side will allow plows to more easily come through our streets. Please follow snow emergency parking regulations to help keep our streets clear this winter. Find more information on our Snow Emergency Parking page. Thank you!
