Christopher’s Story: Rising Above Addiction

Christopher’s Story: Rising Above Addiction
0Comments

Rogers Behavioral Health-West Allis issued the following announcement on June 15.

Chris was aware that his habits surrounding alcohol were unhealthy but didn’t realize to what extent until he noticed his hands shaking in the morning before he had his first drink.

One morning, he felt especially bad, experiencing the shakes, a headache, and nausea. He decided that he couldn’t keep doing this and says he was ready to end his life. Thankfully, an online search turned up resources on suicide prevention and he checked into Rogers later that day.

In the video above, Chris shares his journey toward recovery and discusses how learning coping strategies, being more open, and practicing mindfulness have helped him.
